Mysoline is a barbiturate used as an anticonvulsant for the treatment of epilepsy, grand mal, psychomotor and focal epileptic seizures. The drug contains primidone as an active ingredient which is converted to phenobarbital and fenoletilmalonamid (PEMA) in the course of metabolism.

Drug Name Mysoline (Primidone) Indications for use Mysoline is a barbiturate used as an anticonvulsant for the treatment of epilepsy, grand mal, psychomotor and focal epileptic seizures. The drug contains primidone as an active ingredient which is converted to phenobarbital and fenoletilmalonamid (PEMA) in the course of metabolism. Dosage and direction Missed dose If you miss a dose of Mysolinee, take it as soon as possible. If this occurred while taking your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once. Contraindications The drug is contraindicated in patients with porphyria or having an allergy to primidone or phenobarbital (Luminal, Solfoton). Overdose Symptoms of overdose are not known. In case of suspected overdose of the drug, immediately seek medical attention. Storage The drug is to be stored in a tightly-closed container at a temperature of 15-30 C (59-86 F), protected from moisture and light and away from children and pets. Precautions Use of alcohol and other CNS depressants during the drug treatment is contraindicated as this may increase dizziness and drowsiness. It is not recommended to stop taking the drug without a doctor's permission as this can lead to epilepsy. This drug may cause suicidal thoughts. Inform your doctor of the appearance of anxiety, depression, mood changes or changes in behavior, hyperactivity, agitation and hostility. Please inform your doctor about the pregnancy or planning pregnancy and breast-feeding. Mysoline can cause excessive bleeding during childbirth. You must also inform the physician of lungs, liver or kidney diseases. Side effects In addition to the symptoms of allergic reactions such as rash, pruritus, facial swelling, shortness of breath, dizziness, the drug may cause stomach upset, clumsiness and loss of appetite or fatigue.
